IASL Awards

I know it seems so far away, but we need to be thinking about who we would like to present awards to at ILA in October! Nominations for the Iowa Association of School Librarians Awards are now being accepted. We have 2 awards. The IASL Vision Award is given to a member of our organization that has taken a leadership role in ILA/IASL. Reflect on who has been your mentor in this profession or who you most admire. The IASL Distinguished Advocate Award is given to someone outside of our organization that has been a visionary in furthering the cause of Teacher Librarians. This could be an administrator who provides support staff, nice budgets, and time for collaboration or it could be a parent who lobbies for your program or a community member who volunteers a lot of time. The deadline for nominations for both awards will be June 1. Please email Awards Chairperson Sarah Latcham at Latcham.sarah@iccsd.k12.ia.us or sarahlatcham@hotmail.com or send paper copies of nominations to Sarah Latcham, P.O. Box 283, 215 Fairview Dr., Wellman, IA 52356. Awards will not be given if we don’t have nominees. Please help recognize those who work so hard for us.

IASL will also recognize any member who is retiring at the end of the 2008-2009 school year. If you know of a retiree or are a retiree, please let me know!

If you are interested in being on the Awards Committee or have any questions, please let me know!
